Menghabiskan Setengah Hari di MACAU

MACAU!

Let’s talk about Macau. I was in HongKong and I thought a half day trip to Macau would be awesome. I didn’t plan to gamble or visiting casinos, it’s more like a trip to satisfy my curiosity on how Macau would look like. So I made time to do that.

I woke up early that morning, even I didn’t feel it…come on, it’s 12 Celsius degrees out there! huff.. I forced my self to take a hot shower and leave to the Ferry Terminal. I got lost several times trying to find it, cause the names of some MRT stops were really similar, they played tricks on me. Ha!

Kemarennya gue udah beli tiket PP Hongkong-Macau dari resepsionis tempat gue menginap. Dia ngejual tiket seharga Rp. 280.000. Ini bikin hidup sedikit lebih gampang. Jadi begitu sampai ke terminal penyebrangan, gue tinggal nukerin tiket dan menentukan jadwal pulang pergi maunya jam berapa. Begitu jam ditentukan, nggak boleh berubah pikiran. Kalau kita telat hadir pas jadwal pulang, katanya sih tiketnya dihitung hangus.

Hadeuh.

I bought my round trip ferry tickets the other day from a lady who runs the place I was staying in for HK$ 224 or around US$ 28. So when I got to the terminal, I only had to change the ticks, booked the time to sail back to HongKong and fought my way through the immigration.

blue ferry, taking me to Macau

Begitu masuk tempat imigrasi, antrinya lumayan panjang.

Gimana mau jalan-jalan kalau begini? Dalam hati gue berdoa, “Tuhan Yesus toloooonggg doong, hujannya diberhentiin..tolong ya Tuhan.”.

After waiting for a while, I saw the blue ferry, which will take me to Macau. Woohooo! I sat by the window, seat number 45a. The ferry was only moving about 5 minutes when the rain started to pour down heavily, nearly similar to a storm. I couldn’t see anything but water on the window, so I fell asleep. When I woke up an hour later, I was in Macau already. The weather was still craazzeeyyy…super cold, super windy and the rain hadn’t stopped.  Adoh gawatt!! I prayed to God in my heart…”Please Jesus, stop the rain..I only have a few hours here in Macau.. I need it not to rain…pleasseee….”

Canggihnya, pas keluar dari antrian imigrasi Macau, hujan pelan-pelan BERHENTI!!! wah, Tuhan memang baik. Sangat pengertian.

Pfttt……

…..and my mighty GOD answered my prayer. The moment I walked out of the immigration, the rain slowly stopped. Praise God!I took the free bus to Venetian Hotel, had a little tour of the stunning resort hotel and then walked alone to a bus stop nearby, waiting for a bus number 26A- going to the famous St. Paul ruins. It was a wrong move tho. I waited for the bus for sooo longgg!!! Ggrrr!!

Turisnya pun lagi rame-ramenya. Orang bertebaran. PENUH. Gue sih sibuk sendiri aja, jalan sana sini, foto kanan kiri. Menikmati.

The bus took me crossing a bridge to the city central and stopped near Largo do Senado (Senate Square); which is a nice pedestrian street that leads to St Paul ruins. There were flowers and Chinese New Year decoration everywhere around this area. There was also a little garden at the back, with the lovely old Portuguese tiles. It’s a great place to stroll and also to shop for some dried meat and cookies. I walked up along the super crowded path, until I found the ruins of St.Paul, a 16th century cathedral features a spectacular façade. Just like any other tourist, I took dozens of photos here.

Cukup banyak waktu gue habiskan di pusat kota. Kalau ditanya sih rasanya masih pengen sehari lagi-lah minimal disini. Mungkin suatu hari nanti bakal balik lagi kesini. Untuk sekarang, setengah hari di Macau, cukup.

From the ruins, I took another public transport to circle Macau. I wanted to stop by at the casinos, the Macau tower, the Guan Yin statue, or the Fisherman’s wharf that I passed by..but i couldn’t. The clock was ticking and the ferry had waited to bring me back to HK. It was a very short visit to Macau. Short, but quite memorable. The beauty of Macau with traces of Portuguese culture at every corner really made such interesting sight, and lingered in my brain. Well, maybe someday I’ll stay longer. For now, it was enough.
