Mendingan seperti biasa, nyewa mobil terus nyetir kesana. Kebetulan langganan gue murah, mobil manual rental 24 jam cuma Rp.180.000 aja. Lumayan dong.

// If you’re bored with the ordinary spots most people visit in Bali, maybe you should go to the East. You can find some interesting beaches there. The first one I went to was a small traditional fishing village on the South East coast. This area is tranquil, quiet and surrounded by the scenic Mount Agung. It only takes a 2,5 hours drive from Denpasar.

You can take a taxi to go there (around US$ 50 one way I heard). But the best way of course is to drive there your self. I did that. I found this car rental via Internet, which turned out to be very cheap. They only charged US$ 18 per day (24 hrs) – excluded gas and driver. It’s a descent manual minivan. Good enough for that amount of money spent.//

// Amed is known for its black sand beaches. The source rocks for the beach came from Mount Agung. It is black with many pebbles in places. I walked on the beach and looked closely at the round shiny black pebbles. They are very pretty. Another thing I like about Amed is the fine snorkeling spots I found and the super-relaxing atmosphere. To stay in Amed, you only need to pay around US$ 10 – up for beachside accommodation to suit all tastes. It’s varied form a clean homestay room to hotels and diving resorts. Choose wisely according to your budget and preferred location.//

Balik dari Amed kearah Denpasar, gue WAJIB berenti di pinggir jalan….bukan buat motret atau numpang pipis, tapi buat makan duren!!! (durennya di potret sih akhirnya hehehe) Di kanan kiri jalan, banyak orang-orang desa setempat yang menggelar kios dadakan jual buah-buahan habis panen di kebun sendiri. Rambutan, manggis, pisang, dan…durian. Menggoda banget nihh….jadi mau nggak mau berenti deh.

Mereka ngejual satu buah durian seharga sepuluh sampai lima belas ribu rupiah untuk yang paling besar. Mau tau rasanya? ENAK BUANGETTT! Woohooo.

// By the winding road from Amed to Denpasar, I found some durians –the stinky fruit- sold by the locals. I stopped to have a taste and it was gooooodd durian!! Loved it! I bought some to bring home. Couldn’t get enough of it.//

Pergi Ke Pantai Amed

Sekitar 35 km menyetir, gue nemuin satu papan nama bertuliskan “White Sand Beach”.

Saking jelek jalannya, sampai takut kalau mobilnya nyangkut. Bener-bener harus diperhatikan sama pemerintah nih jalannya. Parah.

// Around 35 km drive from Amed (right before Candi Dasa), I found a beach called “Perasi Beach” or “the Virgin Beach” or “White Sand Beach”. They brag about it because it’s the only white sand beach around, contrast from the coarse black sand found everywhere else in Eastern Bali. The entrance to the beach is very hidden. I had to turn to this narrow path, passing people’s villages for around 1,5 km with a very bad road condition. It was a serious off-roading experience until I located the beach.//

found this beauty on the way

Pantainya sebenarnya cukup cantik sih…tapi ah, nggak perawan lagi nih ternyata…..

// It is one of East Bali’s new discoveries and called ‘virgin’. I was so curious how virgin it is. I expected to spot a picture perfect empty white beach. After parking the car, I walked to the beach and I was a bit disappointed. The color of the sand is not pure white to begin with. It was grey-ish (black and white mixed). The beach was also not as empty as I thought it would be. There were lots of people, with so many of ‘warungs’ selling seafood and more, equipped with their own lounge chairs and umbrellas, stretched across the sand. The only fine thing I liked was the color of the turquoise seawater, which was inviting enough. But I decided to just stroll by the 500-metre long beach. It’s quite pretty tho. After a while, I truly believe the beach is not a virgin anymore //

Next time balik, ready untuk explore tempat baru lainnya.
